Synopsis
A mask-based theatrical piece following a tour bus driver from a Mexican village who survives a catastrophic accident that kills all passengers. Though wracked with guilt, his community views him as divinely blessed, elevating him to celebrity status. The deceased passengers function as a chorus, providing moral commentary throughout the performance.
Background
Created in 1994 as a culminating mask project for student actors, emphasizing physical performance techniques. The original production advanced to the VHSL Regional festival and was later revived for the 1997 Virginia Theatre Association Secondary School Competition. Multiple schools have staged subsequent productions.
